How date night will benefit your business

– Sian Burton

When did you last go on a date with your partner? If the answer isn’t immediately obvious, it might be time for a date night.

“But Sian,” I hear you say, “I don’t have time for a date night and what has this got to do with running a successful business?”

Everything. This has everything to do with your business. Here’s why.

As women, when one area of our life goes well, another part often falls away. If you are kicking goals in your business, while keeping your home running smoothly, there is a potential to let your relationship with your partner slide. This doesn’t mean you have to be superwoman. However, it is a reminder that work-life balance includes making time for those you love.

It is not unusual to lose sight of the ones who supported us to get to where we are today. This is where a regular date night comes in. While it’s not something that springs to mind in business building, nurturing your relationships is something we all need to be mindful of.

It is said the way to man’s heart is through his stomach, and regardless if this is true for your relationship, food does bring people together. It’s time to rekindle that romance and take some time out for each other. It’s not about the sneaky trip through the drive-thru for some dinner before you collect the children. Date night, or breakfast or lunch, without the children, is a time to laugh and be adults. Go back to the time when you were wooed by each other. Do something together that you both enjoy.

Finding that work-life balance can be a challenge for anyone. But as a private practice owner, you can schedule some regular time out for yourself and to spend it with your partner.

Ask yourself the question, “Why have I taken the path of being a private practice owner?” Among your dreams, I am sure one of them is to work the hours you choose, to be happy and spend more time with family (this includes your partner).

So how is your schedule looking for next Monday lunchtime? Don’t cringe, take some time out in your calendar on a regular basis. You won’t regret it, in fact, you will look forward to it and that spark you and your partner had all those moons ago when you started dating, will resurface. But most importantly spending time with your partner is a guilt-free pleasure that you deserve.

So go on, be brave, create a recurring calendar appointment and go on a date!

If you are feeling this is all too hard or even impossible right now, let’s talk about how together we can make date nights for you and your partner happen.

How to grow your heart-led private practice

– Sian Burton

Do you dream of leading a private-practice that inspires you and brings you joy every time you walk through the doors?

Do you dream of working less, and spending most of your working hours with the clients who light you up and inspire you?

I am here to let you know that it is possible, and I have seen practice owners just like you change their business, but, it starts with a choice.  To make this a reality and grow your practice, you have two options, the “Corporate Way” or the “Heart-Led Way”

The corporate way achieves this by analysing marketing, studying the competition and using your findings to develop a business strategy However, the issue with this way, is the heart of the business and your “why” can often be forgotten. Your practice now feels like a corporate entity where fluffy things are added to make it feel like it has a soul, but in reality, it doesn’t.

Be guided by your intuition

When you try and push your business in a direction that makes strategic sense rather than the direction which follows your intuition, you will always have an uphill battle.

I’m not saying you won’t grow the practice, but in a couple of years’ time, you will look back and think, “I wish I hadn’t done it this way. I wish I worked with clients who brought me joy instead of following the masses.”

How do I use my intuition to grow my business?

We spend too much time at work to be unhappy. One of the biggest sources of unhappiness at work is the people we work with.

Ask yourself the question –  if you had to work every day of your life for the next 20, 30, 40 years without being paid, who would you like to work with?

One of the best things about being a private practice owner is you get to choose who you work with. Back to the above question, who is the first person that comes to mind, because that is the person you are supposed to be working with. That is your intuition guiding you.

Next Steps

Right now, it may not all make sense, but I can guarantee you that it will unfold. Joyful customers can be profitable customers, even if you don’t know how you’re going to get there. If you trust your intuition you will get there in the end and be happier for it. By aligning your business with your vision and purpose, you will have a heart-led private practice.

A Busy Practice Owner’s Guide To Goal Setting

– Sian Burton

Are you stuck on a treadmill of long days, working weekends, with little time for family or for yourself?

Are you constantly wondering if It is possible to work less, be there for your family yet still have a profitable business that you enjoy?

It’s time to be brave and set a stake in the ground and say courageously “this is what I want for my business”.  However, reality soon sets in, as knowing what you want is very different to knowing how to achieve it.

Welcome to a busy practice owner’s guide to goal setting!

Don’t worry, I know you are busy and the last thing you need is something else on your endless to-do list.  So I am going to break it down into a few steps that are achievable.

Step 1 – Write it down

If you don’t know what you’re trying to create, you have no chance of creating it. This is why goal setting is essential. Visualise what you want and find yourself a book where you can write your goals and review them regularly. I truly believe that writing goals down works. In fact, there are hundreds of studies to confirm this. The act of writing helps cement these goals into your brain, assisting you to grow and prosper bringing you one step closer to achieving your goals.

Step 2 – Change your mindset

It is common for people I work with to resist to committing their goals to paper. Usually this is due to fear. When you write goals down, they become real, and when they become real, there’s a fear of missing them and feeling like a failure as you set a goal and didn’t reach it.

I also find many people are scared of growth as it can cause pain. There is the mindset that growth requires sacrifice required from you and your family.  So while you logically know you are capable of more and have potential, you are fearful of what that’s going to cost you.

So, how do you move past this?

Step 3 – Think Big

It’s time to think outside the box. Dream as big as you can. As women, we are conditioned to think small, to keep ourselves small and to put everybody else ahead of us.

Do you dream of

  • Working 9-to-5 and making half a million dollars a year?
  • Growing your practice to 10+ staff?
  • Working only 4 days a week and having school holidays off?
  • Choosing to work with clients that bring you joy instead of clients that just pay the bills?

I want you to know that all of that is possible and is achieved by women like you.

You can have the business of your dreams, work less and be there more for your family. You just need to believe in yourself AND write down these goals.

Pull Marketing to Attract Clients

– Sian Burton

Nobody likes to feel like they are being sold to, yet we all like to go buy …
go figure!

There is nothing worse than someone who only talks about themselves, their business and their expertise, whether it’s in person or in their marketing materials and messaging. It always feels like they are trying to PUSH their services on you and it can actually be quite repulsive.

Imagine if you could PULL prospective clients to you! Imagine picking up the phone and having someone on the other end of the line eager to use your services and become a client.

I’m sure some of you are laughing right now thinking this absurd, but this is exactly what happens in my business. Wouldn’t you like it to be the same in yours?

When you use PULL marketing in your materials you are able to attract clients to you that you have never met before. Of my entire client list, there is only one person that I knew prior to starting my business. Each and every one of my clients has been attracted to me, despite not knowing me, and has approached me to find out more about what I do and how it could help them.

So what is PULL marketing and how can you use it in your business?

Pull marketing is about creating connection with and hope in your prospective clients. It’s about empathising with them in a way that allows them to see you really care before showing yourself to be the bridge between where they are now and where they want to be. In doing so you PULL them towards you in a way that no amount of PUSH marketing ever will.

So let me ask you… Are you using PUSH or PULL marketing in your practice right now? Do you talk about yourself and your business or do you pull prospective clients to you by talking about their needs, problems and what they need most right now?

If this has been a revelation and you’d like to learn more about how I can help you to implement PULL marketing strategies to grow your practice fast, click the button below to book a free Strategy Session with me now.
